SUBARASHI | Our Story
Wonderful, by design
Subarashi means "wonderful" in Japanese — a kitchen rooted in Japanese tradition, planted proudly in Memphis, and built on the idea that great food brings people together.
The kitchen
Every dish that leaves this kitchen is treated with intention — vegetables seasoned separately, duck eggs marinated in a distinctive brine, noodles pulled from scratch. Nothing here is an afterthought.
The menu
Handcrafted sushi, soul-warming ramen, fresh poke bowls, and over two dozen bubble teas — the menu is broad by design, because good food should have room for everyone.
The space
Warm wood, exposed brick, and a glowing neon sign on South Highland Street — the room feels like somewhere you actually want to stay a while.
Part of the neighborhood
Steps from the University of Memphis, Subarashi has become a gathering spot for students, families, and neighbors who keep coming back — not just for the food, but for the feeling.
